When I was a very young child I made a promise to myself that when I grew up and became a mom I would never, NEVER, hit my children. I didn't want them to live with the fear I lived with, or go through the pain I did, so this subject is very important to me. Child abuse, no matter the form, is something that should not be tolerated in anyway at all. There should be stricter laws in place to help with this issue. But when you live in a society where "spare the rod, spoil the child" is a big thing, it's a difficult road to travel. 

Sexual abuse on children should not be tolerated at all. There is no excuse at all for this behavior. NONE. Sex offenders should get the stiffest penalty (life in prison) even on the first offense. I have several family members that are sex offenders and it just chaps me that they are free, out in the world among children. But they get treated with pity. They don't deserve pity. They don't deserve anything from anyone. But yet, they continue to live their lives in the free world. What about the children they offended? Their lives stopped being free the minute they touched them. They took away the child's life. But yet, it's ok for them to live their lives the way they please. 

As you can see, I'm very passionate about this subject. As I got older I found out that most of the abused become abusers. I wasn't going to let that happen to me. And my passionate loathing for this subject has helped me do that. I will continue to embrace my feelings on this subject, so that maybe, somewhere down the line I will know that I did at least a little bit to help put a stop to this problem.
