PMSD/PMDD

Doesn't that little fairy above look like she's suffering from PMS? She looks as if she is daring someone to cross her lines. :) I've always said that what we need in the USA is a woman president who is PMSing. That would take care of all the idiocy of the world real quick. lol Ok, don't slam me for that little comment. But just think about it...when a woman is PMSing no one wants to cross her path. Just think if that PMS was magnified 100%. What do you think would happen? Pure chaos. And that is what women with PMSD/PMDD go through.

Premenstrual Stress Disorder, better known as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, is PMS magnified. Luckily it only occurs during the PMS period. If this disorder hung on like other disorders, just think about all the mega bitches that would be running around the world. Scary thought.

I didn't even realize I had it. I did realize, though, that my PMS was abnormal in a little way. Things just seem to really get to me a lot more than normal. The littlest things would set me off. The older I got the worse it got. At first I just thought it was normal for a woman to feel that way. Until my husband made a comment to the doctor one day. He asked her to give me something for my PMS because it's gotten "really scary". He said that he was afraid to sleep at night during this time, for fear I'd kill him.

This disorder is treatable. The doctor put me on Prozac and I seen a difference immediately with the PMS. There isn't much on the web about this disorder as doctors are still learning about it. They aren't exactly sure what the cause is, although, one theory is that there is a lack of serotonin in the brain. So, the most common treatment is having the patient take SSRI's. This has proven to work with me. But with everything else, what one person has success with, the next may not.

If you feel that you are more "bitchy" than usual, please tell your doctor. You don't have to live like that. There is help.

There are a few sites that you can go to, to get information on PMSD/PMDD. As I find more, I will list them.
